...Cool and Dry Weather...

Cool and dry weather continues through Friday. A cold front will slip though
tomorrow in dry fashion, and will bring a fresh supply of cool air on
Friday. Temperatures will be running about five degrees below normal for
late November.

WET WEEKEND: Clouds and wet weather will return to the state over the
weekend. The rain should begin during the day Saturday, becoming more
widespread Saturday night into Sunday, when some thunderstorms could be
involved. At this point we do not expect any problems with severe
thunderstorms.

FRIGID AIR: Much colder air will begin flowing into the state early next
week as the storm system moves to the northeast of Alabama. Monday could be
a day featuring temperatures falling into the 30s along with a very brisk
north wind. Some of the coldest temperatures so far this season are possible
toward the middle of next week.

BAMA TWISTERS: The NWS confirmed a total of 6 tornadoes in Alabama that
touched down Monday. Two of them were in Jefferson county, one at Concord,
and other near Corner. Five of the six tornadoes were F0; there was one F1
in Coosa county near Equality.

HURRICANE SEASON ENDS: Today is the last "official" day of the 2005
hurricane season, and fittingly we still have a tropical storm on the map.
Tropical storm Epsilon is in the central Atlantic, about 750 miles east of
Bermuda. This year's season was the busiest ever, with a total of 28 named
storms, including 13 hurricanes. Seven of those hurricanes were major
(category three or greater on the Saffir-Simpson scale).

REAL FRIGID AIR: Coldest spots in the nation yesterday were Northway and
McCarthy, Alaska with a low of 38 below zero.
