COOL AIR HEADED SOUTH: We have been gradually heating up for the
last several days. Afternoon temperatures in the 80s are too warm for this
time of year by about 10 degrees.

While most of our attention is turned south for obvious reasons, we
are also looking north and we see a nice push of cooler air headed south.
Cooler air already covers much of North Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and
Missouri.

The cold front will reach Central Alabama late Friday. It appears we
will not get much rain with this front. However, could be some scattered
light showers. Many areas will remain dry.

By Saturday we should have a marked change to cooler. While we are
expecting low 80s Friday, our highs on Saturday will stay in the upper 60s
with clouds in and out and brisk NW winds. As an upper level disturbance
passes to our north, it may shoot some cloudiness down into North and
Central Alabama Sunday and Monday. Monday should be one of our coolest days
in a long time with lows around 42 and highs near 60. Up in the Tennessee
Valley and also in places like Hamilton, Cullman and Fort Payne, highs
Monday will not get out of the 50s.

WILD, WILD WILMA: She remained a Category 4 hurricane this afternoon
with sustained winds around 145 mph. It looks more and more like she will
move onshore on the east side of the Yucatan Peninsula, There are some
indications that she will fool around there for awhile. Then, a NE track is
forecast bringing Wilma across South Florida late Sunday or Sunday night.

Wilma is going to dump lots of rain with 10 to 20 inches over parts
of Western Cuba and on Yucatan. Indeed, there is a chance that some of the
higher terrain of Western Cuba could get 40 inches! Translation: Major life
threatening flash floods and mud slides.

Governor Bush has already declared a state of emergency in the
threatened areas of Florida.

HERE AND THERE: Would you believe there may be some snow flurries
above 3500 feet in the Great Smoky Mountains Sunday night? Cold spots today
included 22 at Embarrass, Minnesota and 5 above in Deadhorse, Alaska.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Little Miss Molly is pretty much queen
of my tiny corner. I am trying to let her be the boss this week while her
human mommy recovers from knee surgery. (She is doing great and will be home
from Medical Center East in a few days. Thanks for all the good wishes, very
much appreciated.) I have tried to give Molly some extra cuddling and loving
so she will not feel neglected. But, my gosh, she never gets too much
attention according to her. I have doubled the ballgame time with her. Yet,
each time I walk through the house she is ready to play again. She has now
learned to chase the ball, grab it and run half way back to me and then
sling the ball with her mouth toward me. I kick it again and it is all
repeated many times over. I feel like a little robot but life goes on. I
still love the little 9-pounder!
