...A Dry Pattern Continues...

While we will have a few cloudy periods in coming days, especially during
the morning hours, it appears most of Alabama will remain rain-free through
the rest of the week and into the weekend. The storm system across the
plains states today will move northeast, toward Canada, and very little
energy will be left around here when the trough swings through Friday. We
will mention just a small risk of a shower on Friday, but the chance of any
one spot getting wet is only about one in eight.

THE WEEKEND: Dry weather continues on Saturday and Sunday with partly sunny
days, and high temperatures close to 80 degrees.

NEXT WEEK: A deep trough across the western U.S. will evolve into a closed
upper air low. The models don't agree well on the placement of this feature.
The latest computer model runs are now suggesting this cutoff low will form
over the far southwest U.S., which means our next good chance of rain could
be toward the end of next week, about 7 to 8 days from now.

TROPICS: The combination of former subtropical depression 22 and a cold
front will bring windy and wet weather to New England over the next 48 hours
with the threat of more flooding. The Caribbean remains unsettled, but for
now there is no closed low level circulation.

BIG SPREAD: Tuscaloosa's high yesterday was only 72 due to clouds that
covered the city for much of the day. In contrast, Montgomery soared to 85
with a good supply of sunshine throughout the day.

ROAMING: Corpus Christi, TX reported 1.34" of rain yesterday. Hottest place
in the nation was McAllen, TX with 96. Today's forecast high in Denver is 54
as the snow melt begins.
