...Weather Changes Are Ahead...

Temperatures will remain five to ten degrees above normal across Alabama
today, but a sharp cold front is racing southward through the plains, and
should pass through our state tomorrow night. In advance of the front,
clouds will begin to increase tonight, and we will mention the risk of
scattered showers and possibly a storm tomorrow and tomorrow night. Moisture
along the immediate front will be rather limited, and rainfall amounts
probably won't be all that heavy.

Much cooler air will move into the state on Friday with only a small risk of
a lingering shower early in the day. The weekend ahead looks very pleasant
with highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s, and no significant chance of rain.

TROPICS: A strong easterly wave will move closer to the Florida peninsula
today, bringing windy and wet weather to places like Daytona Beach,
Jacksonville, and Orlando. There is some chance a tropical storm could form
near the east-central Florida coast tonight or tomorrow, but if that happens
it should move northeast, keeping it out of the Gulf of Mexico. Then, the
system should move up the Atlantic coast bringing more windy and wet weather
to places like Baltimore and ultimately New York City and Boston. At this
point we don't expect the disturbance to impact this part of Alabama.

OCTOBER SNOW STORM: A strong winter storm will produce a large area of snow
today over parts of eastern Montana and much of North Dakota. Warrick,,
Montana measured 6 inches of snow yesterday.

OCTOBER HEAT: Hill City, KS yesterday soared to 93 degrees, tying the record
high for the date. Today's forecast high in Hill City is only 54 as cold
air takes over.
