...A Nice Sunday...

GOOD MORNING! Clouds hung tough over Alabama on Saturday resulting in quite
a range of temperatures across the state. With a deck of low overcast at
Tuscaloosa, temperatures slowly climbed through the 60s like at most other
locations across the state. But when the clouds broke just before 3 pm, the
mercury got a quick boost to the afternoon reading of 76F there. Montgomery
also reached 76F, but all other central Alabama reporting stations were in
the 60s.

SUNDAY WEATHER: Today will start off a lot like yesterday, with extensive
clouds across most of the area. Those clouds will break up by late in the
morning, and sunshine will warm temperatures in most locations into the 70s.
As the cyclonic circulation moves further away from Alabama, Monday should
feature more sunshine and a warm up. In fact, temperatures will be above
normal through midweek, with dry conditions prevailing. A disturbance
passing to our north might cause a shower or two Thursday and Friday and
drop temperatures back just a notch. . High pressure will build in after
that, giving us a nice weekend.

RECORDS: The 8,08 inches of rain that fell at Allentown, PA was a record
for the date. Another 3.65 inches of rain fell at Washington's National
Airport, bringing their two day total to over seven inches.

IN THE TROPICS: Depression Number 22 met a premature demise last night as
all of the convection around the center weakened. The remnants still have
the potential to become a significant low pressure system later in the week
as it bumps up against strong high pressure that will be blocking it to the
north.

A note about 2005: if STD#22 becomes STS or TS Vince, it will be the
earliest the 20th named storm has formed. The only other 20th named storm
formed on October 26, 1933.

A TRIBUTE: One of the most famous weathermen in American history passed
away on this date in 1954. You might have heard of him, but I bet you
didn't know he was from Alabama. His name? Grady Norton.
