...Weather Changes Are Ahead...

This will be a different kind of day for Alabama thanks to surge of much
cooler riding into the state on northerly winds. Temperatures should remain
in the 60s all day with a cloudy sky and periods of mostly light rain. The
rain will continue tonight at times, mainly along and east of I-65. Then
tomorrow, as low pressure lifts northeast up the Atlantic seaboard, the
clouds should finally move out of the state by midday with clearing by
afternoon. There could be a little lingering light rain early tomorrow over
east Alabama, but the rest of the weekend will be dry.

Temperatures will be very comfortable over the weekend, with highs in the
70s and lows in the 50s. Some of the colder spots Sunday morning might even
reach the upper 40s.

The first half of next week looks rain-free with temperatures at or slightly
above normal values. Looks like our next surge of cool air is about seven
days away.

FOOTBALL: For high school games tonight, some light rain is possible mainly
for games played over the eastern half of the state. Temperatures should be
in the 60s.

UAB will host SMU at Legion Field tomorrow evening at 6:00 p.m. The sky
should be mostly fair with a kickoff temperature of 68 degrees. The mercury
will drop to near 60 by the end of the game.

TROPICS: A surface low pressure area is over the southeast Gulf of Mexico.
It will move northeast, toward the Florida peninsula today. We will watch
this for signs of organization today. A tropical wave about 900 miles east
of the Windward Islands could develop into a tropical depression in coming
days. Tammy dissipated over south Alabama last night.
