THROUGH SUNDAY FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
IN SOUTHWEST ALABAMA...BALDWIN...CHOCTAW...CLARKE...MOBILE
AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES.
IN SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI...STONE...GEORGE...GREENE...PERRY
AND WAYNE COUNTIES.
IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA...ESCAMBIA...OKALOOSA AND SANTA ROSA COUNTIES.
TROPICAL STORM RITA IS CURRENTLY LOCATED NEAR SHREVEPORT LOUISIANA
AND CONTINUES TO MOVE NORTH AT 11 MPH. SPIRAL BANDS OF HEAVY RAIN
WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE ACROSS THE AREA OVERNIGHT AND ON SUNDAY...
BECOMING EVEN MORE LIKELY THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS AND DURING THE
DAY ON SUNDAY AS RITA SLOWS AND BEGINS TO MOVE A LITTLE MORE TOWARD
THE EAST OVER INTERIOR PORTIONS OF LOUISIANA AND SOUTHERN ARKANSAS.
WIDESPREAD RAIN ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES HAVE OCCURRED ACROSS
THE WATCH AREA DURING THE PAST TWO DAYS AND ADDITIONAL RAINFALL
AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES WILL BE LIKELY ACROSS THE WATCH AREA
THOUGH SUNDAY AS SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS MOVE ACROSS THE
REGION...WITH ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES POSSIBLE. DEPENDING ON
JUST WHERE THE FEEDER BANDS SET UP OVERNIGHT AND ON SUNDAY...LOCALLY
HIGHER RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE WITHIN THE WATCH AREA.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT RAPID FLOODING OF STREAMS...CREEKS AND
OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS WILL BE POSSIBLE WITHIN THE WATCH AREA. PEOPLE
IN THE WATCH AREA SHOULD CHECK PREPAREDNESS REQUIREMENTS...KEEP
INFORMED...AND BE READY FOR QUICK ACTION IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED OR IF A WARNING IS ISSUED. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO
FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE
WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW
YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. REMEMBER...IT IS MORE DIFFICULT TO
RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS AT NIGHT...AND
MOTORISTS SHOULD BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS TONIGHT.
