...Cooler Air Arrives Tomorrow...

Our eyes are on a cold front advancing toward Alabama today. It is expected
to push through the state tomorrow morning, and has the potential to bring a
few widely scattered showers late tonight or tomorrow morning. Rainfall
amounts should be light and spotty, and the chance of any one spot getting
wet is about one in four. The best chance of a shower will come from about
midnight tonight through noon tomorrow.

We are projecting a high of only 78 degrees tomorrow; if that is correct it
will be the coolest maximum temperature here since July 11. Most communities
will dip into the 50s early Friday, somewhere between 55 and 59 degrees. The
cooler valleys might even reach the low 50s.

WEEKEND PEEK: At this point the weekend looks mostly dry with a partly sunny
sky on Saturday and Sunday, along with highs between 82 and 85 degrees.
There will be some moist air returning, but the chance of getting wet at
this point looks so small we won't mention it in the forecast. Low
temperatures will be in the 60s.

TROPICS: A strong tropical wave in the Caribbean is expected to become
tropical storm Stan at some point during the next 48 hours. The system is
forecast to move across Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, with a potential threat
to the Gulf coast of Mexico or far southern Texas in five days or so,
possibly as a hurricane.

MORE TORNADOES: The tornado count from this past Sunday is up to eleven. NWS
storm survey teams found two tornado tracks in Winston county yesterday; one
F0 and one F1. There were no injuries due to the Winston county twisters.
Earlier, one tornado was confirmed in Sumter county, and a total of 8
tornado tracks were identified in Tuscaloosa county.
