...Will the Cold Front Make It?...

GOOD MORNING! A heat advisory continues for all of Central Alabama through
7 p.m. this evening as another hot day is on tap across the area.
Temperatures will rise well into the 90s again today, combining with dew
points in the middle 70s to produce dangerous heat indices of over 110
degrees. Remember to take it easy today. Wear cool clothing and drink
plenty of liquids. Spend time in a cool place. Check on vulnerable family
members, friends and neighbors.

OUR WEATHER STORY: Our much ballyhooed front is the big question mark.
There are now indications that it will not make it through the area. It may
stall out just to our north. In either case, the dramatic difference in dew
points may not materialize for early in the week. With the approach of the
front, we will see the development of scattered showers and storms today.
More storms will be in the forecast on Monday as the front lies across the
area.

Precipitation chances will fall back just a bit for the time period from
Tuesday and beyond. Temperatures will be near normal through midweek. Then
more high pressure will build in as we head toward the weekend, edging those
temperatures back well into the 90s. The dew points should be slightly
lower however.

TROPICS: One tropical wave continues moving westward to the north of the
islands of the Greater Antilles. Disturbed weather over the Northwest
Caribbean is not organized at this time. The tropical wave over the far
eastern Atlantic is associated with a lot of convection and could develop as
it continues west.

ON THIS DATE IN 1984: The Colorado State Fair in Pueblo was struck by
vicious hailstorm. Nine people were hurt, one seriously. Damage totaled $40
million and hundreds of light bulbs were broken by the hail.

URBAN LEGEND: Someone forwarded me an email with a question warning that
those plastic hotel keys contain sensitive guest information. Should you
be worried, or is this an urban legend? Find out more in today's edition of
Weather Talk.
