WHEN WILL OUR "COOL" FRONT ARRIVE? A good question. There are some
indications that it may slow down a bit. The best estimate now is that it
will reach Central Alabama late Sunday night or early Monday morning. After
that, it will slowly push southward and pause or stall over South Alabama.

So, what does all of this mean for Central Alabama weather? It means nothing
through Sunday. We will have scattered thunderstorms later this afternoon
into the evening and scattered afternoon storms on Saturday and Sunday. A
ridge aloft is trying to build into the area, so we do not think the
thunderstorms will be as numerous or as strong as on previous days. Even so,
an isolated storm could get a little rough and a few spots will get
downpours.

The delightful part of our forecast is the first two or three days of next
week when we have taken out the rain, especially on Monday and Tuesday. The
humidity will start dropping Monday and that will be very noticeable by
Tuesday. Our coolest morning should be Tuesday with lows of 63 to 65 across
Central Alabama and several degrees lower than that in the traditional
valley cool spots of North and NE Alabama.

STOUGHTON, WISCONSIN: It is located about 15 miles south of Madison west of
I-90 in SE Wisconsin. The tornado struck about 6:30 last evening.
Preliminary reports say that 80 to 90 homes were heavily damaged in Dane
County which includes Stoughton. But, the worst news is that at least one
person was killed and about six injured. The NWS in Milwaukee was very busy
today doing storm surveys. Quite a few tornadoes struck in South Wisconsin
yesterday...while we're on national weather, these few additional notes...26
in Eagle, Alaska this morning...the coldest in the lower 48 was 28 in
Stanley, Idaho...Rockford, Illinois 2.23 inches of rain overnight and Green
Bay 1.66 inches.

TROPICAL WEATHER: Category 5 Hurricane Camille moved ashore late at night
on August 17, 1969, but at this time on August 19, she was still causing
problems. The remnants of Camille was moving from Kentucky into SW Virginia.
She re-intensified rapidly setting off devastating flooding on the upper
James River. 107 people died and 55 were never found. It became the worst
national disaster in that area. Nearly 30 inches of rain fell in three to
five hours. Now, let us fast forward to today's tropical weather news.
Nervous weather continues from Puerto Rico north over the adjacent Atlantic
associated with what is left of Tropical Depression #10. There are no signs
of redevelopment, but it will continue westward the next day or two.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: I sure would miss Little Miss Molly if she
were to ever run away or get dog-napped. Heaven forbid! Every time I go
anywhere in the house, if she is not asleep, I can feel those little four
paw steps at my heels I can almost hear her tail wagging like a fan. She is
either following only 3 inches behind me or racing ahead to grab one of her
balls inducing me to play. That is why I spend 30 to 45 minutes each day
just going 30 feet to get my cups of coffee. I am always waylaid and
detoured into a play session. I would absolutely not want it any other way.
As I have said before, interacting with that little girl is as relaxing as
eating a valium sandwich. She moaned and groaned as she curled up beside me
on the king-size bed last night. It is her way of saying goodnight.
