* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
EASTERN JEFFERSON COUNTY IN CENTRAL ALABAMA
THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...TRUSSVILLE...GARDENDALE...
FULTONDALE...BIRMINGHAM
* UNTIL 700 PM CDT
* AT 411 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
FLASH FLOODING FROM NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING
HEAVY RAINFALL BETWEEN DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM AND TRUSSVILLE.
DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES INDICATE THAT ONE TO TWO INCHES OF
RAINFALL HAS OCCURRED SINCE 315 PM CDT ROUGHLY ALONG
INTERSTATE 59 FROM DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM TO TRUSSVILLE.
* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO DOWNTOWN
BIRMINGHAM...FULTONDALE...PINSON...TARRANT CITY...IRONDALE...
HOMEWOOD...VESTAVIA HILLS...CAHABA HEIGHTS...AND HOOVER.
THE VILLAGE CREEK...PATTON CREEK...AND FIVE MILE CREEK BASINS
WILL LIKELY EXPERIENCE FLASH FLOODING.
AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO THREE INCHES OF RAINFALL IS LIKELY ALONG AND
EAST OF INTERSTATE 65 AND SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 59 THROUGH 530 PM CDT.
EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES
AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
