BULLETIN...IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
FLOOD WATCH
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BIRMINGHAM AL
1009 PM CDT SAT JUN 11 2005

...A FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL
ALABAMA UNTIL 7 AM CDT SUNDAY...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

AUTAUGA...BIBB...BLOUNT...CHILTON...DALLAS...FAYETTE...GREENE...
HALE...JEFFERSON...LAMAR...LOWNDES...MARENGO...MARION...PERRY...
PICKENS...SHELBY...SUMTER...TUSCALOOSA...WALKER...AND WINSTON.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION ARLENE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTH THROUGH
WESTERN ALABAMA OVERNIGHT. ALTHOUGH ARLENE WILL CONTINUE TO
GRADUALLY WEAKEN AS SHE MOVES NORTHWARD...COPIOUS TROPICAL MOISTURE
NEAR THE CENTER OF THE REMAINING CIRCULATION WILL BRING SEVERAL HOURS
OF MODERATE...TO LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL TO WEST CENTRAL ALABAMA.

BASED ON THE LATEST FORECAST TRACK OF ARLENE...AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 3
INCHES OF RAIN...WITH LOCALLY HEAVIER AMOUNTS COULD FALL TONIGHT...
OVER AREAS MAINLY TO THE WEST OF INTERSTATE 65. FOR LOCATIONS EAST
OF INTERSTATE 65...RAINFALL WILL NOT BE AS STEADY...WITH ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF LESS THAN 2 INCHES EXPECTED.

RAINFALL ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA DURING THE PAST WEEK HAS LEFT THE
GROUND QUITE WET. LATEST RAINFALL TOTAL ESTIMATES INDICATE THAT
AS OF 9 PM TONIGHT...SOME LOCATIONS ACROSS WEST CENTRAL ALABAMA...
INCLUDING LINDEN...ALICEVILLE...TO JASPER...HAVE RECEIVED 3 TO 4
INCHES OF RAIN OVER THE LAST 2 DAYS. ANY ADDITIONAL RAINFALL ACROSS
THESE AREAS TONIGHT WILL RESULT IN RAPID RUNOFF. THIS COULD PRODUCE
FLASH FLOODING...ESPECIALLY ALONG SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN
AREAS...AND LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING.

PERSONS LIVING ALONG LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING AND NEAR
SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD MONITOR THE LATEST FORECAST AND
POSSIBLE WARNINGS. DO NOT TRY TO CROSS FLOODED ROADWAYS. TURN
AROUND...DON'T DROWN.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS...CREEKS...URBAN
AREAS AND OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS IS POSSIBLE IN AND NEAR THE WATCH
AREA. PEOPLE IN AND NEAR THE WATCH AREA SHOULD KEEP AN EYE ON THE
WEATHER AND BE PREPARED FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION SHOULD HEAVY RAINS AND
FLOODING OCCUR OR WARNINGS ARE ISSUED.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO AND OTHER LOCAL MEDIA FOR FURTHER
DETAILS OR UPDATES.
