...Dry Through The Weekend...

Unusually dry air covers Alabama this morning, and if you are up early
enough there is actually a hint of fall in the air. Sure, I know the
official beginning of summer is still four days away, but you have to love
this weather. Continental air will stay in place through the weekend, so our
forecast will stick with sunny warm days, clear cool nights (for June), and
low humidity values all the way through Sunday.

We will watch a parade of thunderstorms move from Oklahoma and Arkansas down
through Louisiana and Mississippi, but all of that should stay well to the
west of Alabama. We might see some high clouds from time to time, but each
day should feature lots of sunshine.

The first few days of next week look rain-free; it is very unusual for us to
go that long without having to deal with afternoon showers and storms this
time of the year.
TROPICAL WEATHER: All is relatively quiet in the Atlantic basin now and
tropical storm formation is not expected through the weekend.

AT THE BEACH: Lots of sunshine each day through early next week along the
central Gulf coast with only isolated showers. Daytime temperatures will
reach the mid to upper 80s, and the sea water temperature at Pensacola is a
very warm 86 degrees.

CALIFORNIA SHAKERS: A magnitude 4.9 earthquake rattled southern California
yesterday; the third significant seismic event within the last week.
Seismologists are generally downplaying the notion that anything bigger is
ahead in the near future on the west coast.

ROAMING: Hot spot in the nation yesterday was Needles, CA with 107. In sharp
contrast, Boston's high yesterday was only 57.
