...Cool Front Ahead...

GOOD MORNING: After a couple of gloomy days, the sun shone bright on my old
Trussville home, even if it was a sunset yesterday. We should see a good
bit of sunshine today and tomorrow, even though humidity levels are going to
remain high in the wake of Tropical Storm Arlene. That sunshine will work
on those moisture levels to produce widely scattered afternoon and evening
showers and storms today. Coverage should be in the 20-30% range.

Temperatures will be quite warm today, with afternoon readings going well
into the upper 80s along with lots of humidity. Some locations should see
90. With dew points in the muggy 70 degree range, overnight lows will only
make it into the low 70s tonight. Tomorrow looks like it will be a good
replica of today, but with perhaps a bit more in the way of afternoon and
evening showers and storms. Storms could be a little on the strong side
tomorrow.

MIDWEEK FRONT: A cold front in the middle of June is a rare surprise here
in Alabama, but we will take it. The front should arrive late in the day,
and ahead of it, we can expect a band of showers and storms. Some of the
storms could be on the strong side.

BEYOND MIDWEEK: The front will deliver drier and slightly cooler air to us
here in Alabama. Lows Friday, Saturday and Sunday look like they will be in
the middle 60s. This is actually near normal for this time of year, but
better than the muggy 70s we have been experiencing. Highs will be in the
middle 80s right into the weekend with dew points in the lower 60s.

ON THIS DATE IN 2002: Veteran hurricane forecaster John Hope from The
Weather Channel died on this date of complications from heart surgery. He
was 83 years old. Hope joined the National Hurricane Center in 1968 and
quickly became a senior hurricane specialist. Hope started with The Weather
Channel as their tropical expert when the network debuted in 1982. Hope was
a familiar and reassuring face to millions of Americans in coastal areas.
