...A Very Nice Weekend Ahead...

Get set for a very nice Mothers Day weekend. We expect no rain through
Sunday, with lots of sunshine on a daily basis and a nice day to day warming
trend. We should wind up in the mid 70s today, and near 80 both tomorrow and
Sunday.

NEXT RAIN: We will introduce the chance of showers and possibly a
thunderstorm Monday night and Tuesday of next week thanks to a weakening
cold front trying to push into Alabama. The front should become stationary,
washing out by Wednesday. The models are then suggesting we might see the
warmest weather so far this year by Thursday of next week with temperatures
reaching the mid 80s along with fairly high humidity levels, more like
summertime.

THE LONG RANGE: The models are now hinting at a relatively wet period for
the state in the May 13-16 time frame as deep moisture moves in from the
south, and an upper air low forms to the northwest.

YESTERDAY'S RAIN: Most everyone west of I-65 saw no rain at all yesterday,
and generally speaking amounts over east Alabama were quite light. However,
there were a few heavier showers over the eastern side of the state; rain
totals included 1.45" at Alpine (in Talladega county) .66" at the Neely
Henry Dam near Ohatchee and Ragland, .53" at Steele, .43" at Ashville, and
.35" at Jacksonville. Evening thunderstorms dropped pea sized hail in
Autauga co.

ACROSS THE FRUITED PLAIN: Hottest place in the nation yesterday was Phoenix,
AZ with 95 degrees. Tallahassee, FL measured 1.24" of rain, while
Charleston, SC reported 1.14" Paducah, KY dropped to 40 degrees early
yesterday, tying the record low for the date. Pittsburgh, PA also tied their
record low with 32 degrees.
