THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HUNTSVILLE AL HAS ISSUED A FLOOD
WATCH EFFECTIVE UNTIL 400 PM CST FRIDAY AFTERNOON. THE WATCH INCLUDES
THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
IN ALABAMA
CULLMAN...MARSHALL AND DE KALB
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO OVERSPREAD THE AREA TODAY
AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH. SOME THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE
CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL...ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF
THE TENNESSEE RIVER AND EAST OF I-65. LOCATIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN
CULLMAN...MARSHALL AND DEKALB RECEIVED BETWEEN 1.50 AND 3 INCHES
EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN
WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS...RESULTING IN THE THREAT
FOR FLASH FLOODING ACROSS THESE AREAS. THE HIGHEST RISK AREAS WILL
BE ALONG AND SOUTH OF A FORT PAYNE TO GUNTERSVILLE TO CULLMAN LINE.
A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLOODING IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT IMMINENT IN THE
WATCH AREA. PEOPLE IN THE WATCH AREA ARE ADVISED TO CHECK
PREPAREDNESS REQUIREMENTS...KEEP INFORMED...AND BE READY FOR QUICK
ACTION IF FLOODING THREATENS.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS...ABANDON IT AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND
IMMEDIATELY. RAPIDLY RISING WATER MAY ENGULF YOUR VEHICLE AND ITS
OCCUPANTS AND SWEEP THEM AWAY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
