THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HUNTSVILLE AL HAS ISSUED A FLOOD
WATCH EFFECTIVE UNTIL 900 AM CST FRIDAY MORNING. THE WATCH INCLUDES
THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
IN ALABAMA
CULLMAN...MARSHALL AND DE KALB

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPING OVER EASTERN TEXAS IS FORECAST TO
MOVE NORTHEAST OVERNIGHT...ALONG A STATIONARY FRONT LOCATED ACROSS
CENTRAL ALABAMA. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA
AFTER MIDNIGHT. SOME THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL...ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF THE TENNESSEE RIVER.
LOCATIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN CULLMAN...MARSHALL AND DEKALB RECEIVED
BETWEEN 1.50 AND 3 INCHES LATE LAST NIGHT. AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO TWO
INCHES OF RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE TONIGHT...RESULTING IN THE THREAT
FOR FLASH FLOODING ACROSS THESE AREAS. THE HIGHEST RISK AREAS WILL
BE ALONG AND SOUTH OF A FORT PAYNE TO GUNTERSVILLE TO CULLMAN LINE
THROUGH MID-MORNING FRIDAY.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLOODING IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT IMMINENT IN THE
WATCH AREA. PEOPLE IN THE WATCH AREA ARE ADVISED TO CHECK
PREPAREDNESS REQUIREMENTS...KEEP INFORMED...AND BE READY FOR QUICK
ACTION IF FLOODING THREATENS.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY. MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO
FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS...ABANDON IT AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND
IMMEDIATELY. RAPIDLY RISING WATER MAY ENGULF YOUR VEHICLE AND ITS
OCCUPANTS AND SWEEP THEM AWAY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO...COMMERCIAL MEDIA OR YOUR CABLE
TELEVISION PROVIDER FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
