...A Sharp Change To Colder...

After a big round of rain and strong storms yesterday and last
night, sunshine returns to Alabama today, but the weather will be windy and
sharply colder. Northwest winds will gust to 25 mph at times today, and will
keep temperatures in the chilly 40s all day. Tonight, with a clear sky and
diminishing wind, a light freeze is likely with most places dropping
somewhere between 28 and 32 degrees by daybreak tomorrow.

MORE CHANGES: Another fast moving weather system will bring clouds
back in here tomorrow, and rain will spread into the state by mid to late
afternoon. As a pocket of cold air aloft moves into the state late tomorrow
night, there is a chance the rain could briefly change to light snow before
ending. Surface temperatures should remain above freezing, so at this time
we don't expect any travel problems. The best chance of seeing any
snowflakes will be along and north of I-20, and between 10:00 p.m. and 3:00
a.m.

Temperatures will stay below normal on Thursday and Friday, with
sub-freezing temperatures possible during the early morning hours.

WEEKEND PEEK: A moderating trend begins this weekend, with
temperatures back in the 60s on Saturday. Some places might touch 70 degrees
by Sunday afternoon. At this point the weekend looks rain-free. Another
weather system could bring active thunderstorms back to Alabama by early
next week.

MONDAY'S RAIN: Rain totals from around Alabama yesterday included
2.12" at Moundville, 2.00" at Helena, 1.77" at Childersburg, 1.72" at
Sylacauga, 1.48" at Riverchase, 1.44" at Hueytown, 1.44" at Tuscaloosa,
1.26" at Jacksonville, 1.20" at Anniston, 1.16" at Clanton, 1.11" at Legion
Field, and 1.02" at Talladega.
