...A Spring-Like Day For Alabama...

If we reach our forecast high of 75 degrees today, this will be the
warmest day so far in 2005. We reached 74 degrees on three days; January 2,
3, and 11. And, if we reach 75 today that will be exactly 17 degrees above
normal for the 15th day of February. The day should feature a good supply of
sunshine after some morning fog.

BACK TO REALITY: A cold front will pass through Alabama tomorrow
with clouds and the chance of a few passing showers. Then, much cooler air
returns to the state over the latter half of the week. We will struggle to
reach 50 degrees on Thursday, and most communities will be below freezing by
early Friday morning, in the 26 to 30 degree range.

WEEKEND PREVIEW: Looks like the weather word for the weekend will be
wet. The front that will bring cooler air to the state tomorrow will drift
northward on Saturday as a warm front, and rain should become widespread
along and north of the front. As warmer air returns on Sunday, we will have
to mention showers and thunderstorms as the air becomes more unstable. We
don't expect a continuous rain this weekend, but a shower will be possible
at almost any time. At the moment it looks like the heaviest rain will come
Sunday, and possibly into Monday.

RAIN UPDATE: Birmingham has now received 2.19" for the month of
February, and 4.13" for the year. We are still deficient by 3.51" since
January 1.

RIO GRANDE HEAT: Hot weather continues across the Rio Grande Valley
of Texas, where Harlingen yesterday soared to 90 degrees.

STORM ALERT 2005: Don't forget we will be in Hanceville this week at
Wallace State. The show begins at 7:00; get there early for a seat!
