THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HUNTSVILLE HAS ISSUED A
* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
LAUDERDALE COUNTY IN NORTHWEST ALABAMA
* UNTIL 800 PM CST
* AT 430 PM CST...WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED THAT AS MUCH AS 2
TO 3 INCHES HAD FALLEN OVER THE WESTERN HALF OF LAUDERDALE COUNTY
SINCE THIS MORNING. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS FOR LAUDERDALE
COUNTY REPORTED NUMEROUS COUNTY ROADS HAVE BEEN CLOSED DUE TO FLASH
FLOODING. IN ADDITION...CREEKS AND STREAMS REMAIN HIGH ACROSS THE
COUNTY. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL IS EXPECTED DURING THE EVENING HOURS...
WHICH WILL LIKELY CONTINUE TO AGGRAVATE ANY ONGOING FLOODING
PROBLEMS.
* SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED INCLUDE...
FLORENCE...KILLEN...LEXINGTON AND UNDERWOOD-PETERSVILLE
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE RISING
WATERS!
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
