...Clouds Hang Tough Today...

After a good soaking yesterday, our forecast package will continue to
highlight a gray sky today with some lingering light rain or drizzle. Most
of the precipitation should be over by midday, but the clouds will hang
tough through tonight. In fact, the sky will probably be cloudy tomorrow
morning as we start the weekend. But, some nice breaks in the cloud cover
should be seen tomorrow afternoon, and the sun will be back in full force on
Sunday and Monday as the air dries out.

The bulk of the cold air will stay north of Alabama this time, but we will
have colder mornings by Sunday and Monday with the mercury reaching the
lower 40s.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: The big game of the day will take place down at
Jordan-Hare stadium where Auburn hosts Georgia. The sky should be partly
sunny for the 2:30 kickoff with temperatures in the low 60s, falling into
the 50s by the end of the game. Alabama travels to Baton Rouge to take on
LSU tomorrow evening (6:45 kickoff); the weather will be clear and cool with
temperatures in the 50s. And, in Birmingham, UAB will host Houston for
homecoming at Legion Field. Partly sunny, dry weather is our forecast for
the game with about 62 at kickoff, dropping into the 50s by the end of the
game.
For the high school games tonight, the sky will be cloudy but at this time
we do not expect any significant rain. Temperatures will drop from the low
60s at kickoff into the upper 50s by the fourth quarter at most stadiums.

THURSDAY SOAKER: Mobile measured 3.14" of rain yesterday. Other totals
around the state include 1.86" at Calera, 1.70" at Riverchase, 1.61" at
Gardendale, 1.54" at Greystone Farms, 1.41" at Cottondale, and 1.12" at
Inverness.
