READY FOR MORE RAIN? Your answer, I'm sure, is no, no, no! But here we go
heading into another rain event and it looks like the main event will be
Tuesday and Tuesday night.
This afternoon, rain had already spread across much of Arkansas and NW
Louisiana. We may see some rain in Central Alabama after midnight, but more
so toward daybreak. We will have a good chance of rain and possibly some
thunderstorms Tuesday. The rain may be heavy at times. We estimate around
1.50 to possibly 2 inches of rain from this storm system. That means it will
not be as bad as our last storm, but the additional rain could cause some
lingering flood problems.
We believe now that we can get by tomorrow without a risk of severe
thunderstorms or tornadoes. It's not totally out of the question, but all of
the ingredients are just not there. Of course, that could change.
The rain should end early Wednesday followed by breezy and cooler weather.
Thursday and Friday should be mostly sunny and dry. Low temperature Thursday
and Friday morning may be near freezing in the valley areas. Birmingham
Airport could still squeeze by without its first official freezing
temperature of the season. We don't foresee any unusually cold weather into
early next week.
THAT SUNSET: Hope you saw it Sunday. I have never seen one more beautiful
and with so many different colors. It was seen far and wide. It was so
striking that two brothers in Bremen, Georgia wrote a song about it. A nice
e-mail from a lady who said their family had driven all the way from
Williamsburg, Virginia to Alabama Sunday arriving just in time to see that
classic sunset and it made the perfect ending to a very tiresome day.
MONDAY NOTES: Bitter cold weather in theRockies. The coldest in the USA
this morning was 31 below zero at Labarge, Wyoming. That was a whole lot
colder than the coldest part of Alaska...wintry weather plagued a good part
of the Rockies...over the weekend, 32 inches of new snow fell on Alta, Utah,
near Salt Lake, and 37 inches at Farnsworth Lake, in South Utah...16 inches
fell at Steamboat Springs, Colorado and 10 inches at Lodgepole,
Nebraska...it was 20 below zero this morning at Yellowstone National
Park...10 inches of snow fell on Cheyenne Sunday.
MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: When little Miss Molly and I took a walk late
Sunday afternoon, we just knew we were going to have a beautiful sunset. We
saw at least five different types of clouds at various levels and we were
correct. Miss Molly sure did get a whole lot more attention over the weekend
and today and she seems pleased by all of that. On our early morning walk
today, the temperature was just right. Even so, before I could react, little
Miss Molly waded in water almost up to her knees. The Old Crow Creek still
has a good flow...that meant a lick-down and drying off of herself when we
got home...then a wild play session of kick-ball, pull-rope and generally
chasing each other around the couch. I expect Molly to start speaking
English at any moment...life goes on even if both our tongues are hanging
out.
