CHANGEABLE WEATHER AHEAD: We're going to go through a series of weather
changes over the next few days. Before it's all over, we should get some
substantial rainfall and then a change to noticeably cooler by Thanksgiving.

First things first. The rain that moved slowly across the area today is
mostly gone. There could be a little bit of scattered light rain or drizzle
tonight as a solid overcast hangs tough. Most of the high school playoff
games tonight should have little or no risk of rain-maybe a few spots of
light drizzle.

Saturday is somewhat of a question mark. We believe that much of the day
will be dry. However, some showers and thunderstorms will reach the SW part
of the state during the afternoon and overspread the area Saturday night.
Still a good chance of showers and storms on Sunday, then thinning out
considerably on Monday. By then a strong low pressure system will be moving
NE through Kansas and Alabama can expect increasing showers and
thunderstorms on Tuesday as a warm front moves through the state. We could
have a slight risk of some severe thunderstorms on Tuesday. A few spots will
get locally heavy rain. The latest indications are that the storms will last
into Wednesday morning.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Not too comfortable for the UAB-Army game in West Point,
New York at midday Saturday. There is a good chance of rain. It will be a
cold rain with temperatures around 46 at kickoff. Later in the afternoon, at
2:30 p.m., the Auburn-Alabama game gets underway at Tuscaloosa. It's going
to be a close call, but we think most of the game will be played with dry
conditions. Can't rule out some rain reaching the stadium before the final
whistle. It should be near 70 at kickoff.

THANKSGIVING WEATHER: It's a bit early to be too specific, but we believe
Thanksgiving will be cool and dry with highs in the 50s.

FINAL FRIDAY NOTES: 84 in McAllen, Texas and Thermal, California was
yesterday's hottest...coldest in the lower 48 was 10 this morning in
Stanley, Idaho...on this date in 1988, 21 tornadoes occurred including 13 in
Mississippi. Two persons were killed and 11 injured at Nettleton,
Mississippi...a tornado in West Alabama also injured 8 persons at
Tuscaloosa.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Our favorite walking weather early today-cool
with a steady light rain. Strangely enough there is one teenage tree along
the walking track that Molly insists on stopping at and sniffing all around
the tree. Undoubtedly she is checking to see if some of her friends had
stopped by. Most likely they heist their leg and use the tree for a
fireplug. I guess it's sort of a doggie bulletin board...sure am glad we
decided to not give Molly a bath today. Instead, we will wait until her
regular appointment at the vet Monday when she will get a bath and also
grooming. Cheers. Life goes on.
