...How About Five Dry Days?...

You certainly won't see any blowing dust around Alabama today. The entire
state was wet down with widespread rain the last couple of days. Places near
the coast got over 4 inches of rain and many parts of North Central Alabama
received more than 2 inches.

Cooler air overspread the area Friday. This will give us a nice present for
at least five days in a row with no rain. At this time, we expect the next
rain about next Thursday. Even then it does not seem to be a major rain
event.

A tough forecast question for today is when the clouds will give way to some
afternoon sunshine. We think that the sun will peek through by this
afternoon giving us a lot of sunshine from mid afternoon on. We don't see
any drastic temperature changes over the next five days. In fact, by Tuesday
and Wednesday, high temperatures will top out near the 70-degree mark. We
see no prospect of a freeze anytime soon.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Ideal dry weather is expected for the Georgia-Auburn game

in Auburn this afternoon and for the Houston-UAB game in Birmingham at mid
afternoon. Temperatures should be in the low 60s at kick off and cooling
into the 50s as the game unfolds. Down in Baton Rouge Alabama will be
playing LSU tonight before a very noisy packed house. Look for fair and dry
weather with near 60 at kick off and cooling to the 50s.

SATURDAY NOTES: Around the USA, Friday's temperature extremes included 8 at

Sioux City, Iowa and 84 at Key West, Florida...heavy snow will be a problem
today over a large part of New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle. 5 to 7 inches
will fall in the Panhandle. Amounts will be much heavier on the favored east
slopes of the New Mexico mountains.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Another walk with little Miss Molly last
evening and again we saw an unbelievable number of birds. It looked like
football fans scrambling down U.S. 280 to the Auburn-Georgia game. The birds
were dashing about like they had to meet a deadline and were singing loudly.
Little Miss Molly took note and we enjoyed the free concert. Nature
furnishes us with so much enjoyment if we only open our eyes and ears. Makes
life more enjoyable and life goes on.
