Wet weather returns to Alabama as our forecast package will highlight
periods of rain and a few thunderstorms through tonight. Rainfall amounts
should be in the one-half to one inch range for most places. Thunderstorms
should remain below severe limits due to limited instability and diminishing
wind fields.

The rain should end from west to east tomorrow morning, but clouds will
linger most of the day Friday as cooler air arrives with a brisk northerly
wind. Temperatures tomorrow will probably hold in the 50s all day.

THE WEEKEND: The sky should become partly sunny on Saturday as dry air takes
over, and Sunday should feature maximum sunshine. Early morning temperatures
are expected to be in the 39 to 45 degree range, with the mercury peaking in
the low to mid 60s during the day. We are projecting excellent weather for
Saturday's Georgia/Auburn game at Jordan-Hare stadium (2:30 p.m. kickoff )
with a sunny sky and a kickoff temperature of about 62 degrees.

NEXT WEEK: Longer range model output shows another storm system moving in
here by Wednesday of next week, which could very well have the potential for
some strong thunderstorms. In the "way out yonder" category, the models are
hinting at a major pre-thanksgiving storm in about two weeks. But, lots of
water will go under the bridge before we get there; lots could change.

OKLAHOMA TWISTERS: At least six tornado touchdowns were reported in the
general region between Oklahoma City and Tulsa yesterday, but damage was
rather limited.

RAIN UPDATE: Birmingham's rain total so far this year is 47.87", which is
1.38 above normal. Our surplus should grow with the rain today.
