...Rain Returns Tomorrow...
We will squeeze in one more nice today with a decent amount of sunshine
through high clouds, and temperatures in the mid 60s this afternoon.
Clouds will thicken late tonight, and we will highlight developing showers
for Veterans Day tomorrow as a storm system approaches from the west. Looks
like the most widespread rain will come tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow
night, with a few embedded thunderstorms possible. Severe weather is not
likely since the atmosphere is rather stable. Rain totals between one-half
and once inch are expected for most places.
FRIDAY: A new surge of chilly air will drop into the state at the end of the
week. In fact, Friday looks like a rather raw day with lingering clouds, a
cool north breeze, and temperatures holding in the 50s. The rain should end
from west to east early in the day.
THE WEEKEND: We still expect a cold start to the weekend, with temperatures
in the 32 to 38 degree range early Saturday. While many places might escape
a freeze, widespread frost seems likely at this time. Dry air will mean
ample sunshine on both Saturday and Sunday with daytime temperatures in the
60s.
NEXT WEEK: Looks like a good soaking for parts of Alabama toward the middle
of next week. The latest model data puts the primary surface low over Mobile
on Wednesday, which would mean little chance of severe weather, but some
very significant rain amounts, especially over south Alabama.
TWO YEARS AGO: Alabama's last major severe weather outbreak on November 10,
2002 was responsible for 11 tornadoes that killed 12 people across north
Alabama. Read more about this event in today's WeatherTalk.
