THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS SPECIFIC ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY RESIDENTS
OF MOBILE AND BALDWIN COUNTIES IN SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA.

...WATCHES/WARNINGS...
ALL TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED FOR MOBILE AND
BALDWIN COUNTIES OF SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA.

...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 10 AM CDT...THE POORLY-DEFINED CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION
MATTHEW WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 29.9 NORTH...LONGITUDE 90.8 WEST
OR ABOUT 40 MILES WEST OF NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA.

MATTHEW IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH NEAR 10 MPH AND THIS MOTION WILL
CONTINUE THROUGH TODAY. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MPH
NEAR THE STORM'S CENTER. THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS
1001 MB...29.56 INCHES.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
NO EVACUATION ORDERS OR RECOMMENDATIONS HAVE BEEN ISSUED.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND TIDAL IMPACTS...
TIDAL LEVELS OF 1 TO 2 FEET ABOVE NORMAL WILL IMPACT THE WARNING
AREA THIS MORNING. ASTRONOMICAL TIDES HAVE ALREADY BEGUN TO
FALL...AND THE ABOVE NORMAL TIDES ARE EXPECTED TO SLOWLY SUBSIDE
THROUGH THE DAY. DAUPHIN ISLAND WILL LIKELY HAVE GULF WATER
BREACHING PORTIONS OF THE WEST END AND INTO THE SOUND. THESE ARE
AREAS WHERE SUBSTANTIAL EROSION OCCURRED IN ASSOCIATION WITH
HURRICANE IVAN. WATER WILL BE TRAPPED ON BIENVILLE BOULEVARD AS THE
WATER LEVELS RECEDE LATER TODAY.

...WIND IMPACTS...
OVERALL...THE WIND IMPACT WILL BE LOW. SUSTAINED WINDS ALONG THE
IMMEDIATE COAST OF 20 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED
EARLY THIS MORNING...BUT WINDS WILL GRADUALLY DECREASE DURING THE
REMAINDER OF THE MORNING. WIND SPEEDS OF THIS MAGNITUDE WILL MAINLY
BE EXPERIENCED WEST OF GULF SHORES ALABAMA. SOME ADDITIONAL MINOR
WIND DAMAGE COULD OCCUR TO PREVIOUSLY DAMAGED STRUCTURES AND ROOF
TARPS MAY BE BLOWN OFF.

...RAINFALL AMOUNTS...
A FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MOBILE AND BALDWIN COUNTIES
THROUGH THIS EVENING. RAINFALL TOTALS IN THIS AREA BETWEEN 2 AND 4
INCHES ARE POSSIBLE...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS WHERE SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS MOVE REPEATEDLY OVER THE SAME AREA.

.TORNADOES...
A FEW BRIEF TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE TODAY...MAINLY OVER THE COASTAL
WATERS THROUGH LATE MORNING AND THEN ALONG THE COASTAL COUNTIES BY
EARLY AFTERNOON.
