THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS SPECIFIC ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY RESIDENTS
OF MOBILE AND BALDWIN COUNTIES IN SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR MOBILE AND BALDWIN
COUNTIES OF SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA.
...STORM INFORMATION...
AT 6 PM CDT...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM MATTHEW WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 27.0 NORTH...LONGITUDE 91.4 WEST OR ABOUT 300 MILES
SOUTHWEST OF DAUPHIN ISLAND.
MATTHEW IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST NEAR 9 MPH. ON THIS
TRACK...THE CENTER OF THE TROPICAL STORM WILL REACH THE COAST WITHIN
THE WARNING AREA EARLY SUNDAY.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MPH...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THESE
WINDS ARE CONFINED TO THE NORTHEAST AND EAST OF THE CENTER. SOME
FLUCTUATIONS IN INTENSITY ARE LIKELY BEFORE LANDFALL.

NO EVACUATIONS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. RESIDENTS OF THE WARNING AREA
SHOULD CHECK THEIR PROPERTY AND SECURE ANY LOOSE OR UNSTABLE
OBJECTS...IF POSSIBLE.
...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
STORM SURGE FLOODING OF 2 TO 4 FEET ABOVE NORMAL TIDE LEVELS WILL
IMPACT THE WARNING AREA LATER TONIGHT AS THE CENTER APPROACHES THE
COAST. DAUPHIN ISLAND WILL LIKELY HAVE GULF WATER ENCROACHING OVER
PORTIONS OF THE WEST END AND INTO THE SOUND...WHERE THE BEACHES
SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL EROSION FROM IVAN. WATER WILL BE TRAPPED ON
BIENVILLE BOULEVARD AS THE WATER LEVELS RECEDE SUNDAY. BALDWIN
COUNTY BEACHES WILL SEE STORM SURGE FLOODING OF 2 TO 3 FEET ABOVE
NORMAL TIDE LEVELS. THIS WILL SEND WATER UP UNDER MANY OF THE GULF
FACING BEACH PROPERTIES.

SUSTAINED WINDS ON THE IMMEDIATE COAST OF 30 TO 40 MPH WITH HIGHER
GUSTS WILL OCCUR DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS.
...RAINFALL AMOUNTS...
A FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MOBILE AND BALDWIN COUNTIES.
HEAVIER RAIN IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATER THIS EVENING. RAINFALL
TOTALS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES POSSIBLE...WITH SOME ISOLATED LOCATIONS UP
TO 5 INCHES.
