...A Chilly Wind; Sun By Afternoon...

The coolest air so far this fall season will blow into Alabama today on
strong westerly winds, which will gust as high as 30 mph in spots
(especially higher terrain). Some clouds could linger early this morning,
but the sky should clear nicely from west to east, and most places will see
sunshine by midday. Temperatures will struggle to reach the low 60s, and we
go back into the upper 40s early tomorrow morning with a mostly fair sky.

THE WEEKEND: We will forecast a partly sunny sky tomorrow and Sunday with a
warming trend. At this point our next chance of rain looks to be Monday
night into Tuesday of next week as a cold front stalls out just north of
here as it becomes parallel to the upper air flow.

The latest model data suggests the latter half of next week could be rather
wet as well.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: You will need a warm jacket for tonight's UAB-TCU game at
Legion Field (7:00 kickoff); temperatures will drop into the low to mid 50s
with a cool breeze. The sky should be mostly clear. Same deal for the high
school football games across the state.

Tomorrow, Alabama will host Southern Mississippi at 2:00. The sky should be
partly sunny with about 67 degrees at kickoff. Down in Lee county, Auburn
hosts Arkansas at 2:30. Great football weather there with ample sunshine and
about 67 degrees at kickoff.

FACE TO FACE WITH IVAN: I will be live in Gulf Shores tomorrow night for a
one hour special called "Face to Face With Hurricane Ivan". The show will
begin at 9:00 p.m. on ABC 33/40, and we will update the recovery progress in
coastal Alabama exactly one month after Ivan roared ashore.
