NOT A PRETTY DAY: For the second day in a row, we have been plagued by low
clouds and early morning fog that is stubborn about breaking up. The sun did
come out over West-Central and SW Alabama this afternoon and temperatures
soared into the low 80s as compared to the low 70s over North Alabama.
Look for the fog to redevelop tonight because of a stalled front lying
across the area. We believe the clouds will break up quicker tomorrow than
they did today.

During the night, a cluster of thunderstorms moved SE through West-Central
and South Alabama producing some locally heavy rain. Areas along the
Pickens-Sumter County line may have received over one inch of rain.
When is our next rain? Thanks to an approaching cold front, we should start
getting some scattered showers and possible thunderstorms in Central Alabama
late Saturday. We think most of them will come during the overnight hours
and then end on Sunday morning. We still don't see any big temperature
changes for the next week.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Kentucky will be at Auburn Saturday afternoon for a 1:30
game. It should be dry and warm with near 84 at kick off. Alabama will be in
Knoxville to play Tennessee at 2:30 Saturday afternoon. They expect some
scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm during the game with a high
near 70. UAB will be in New Orleans to play Tulane and it should be
comfortable and dry in the Superdome.

A BUNCH OF THREE-DOT STUFF: A big winter storm in parts of the west
including some flood-producing rains and heavy snow...in Utah, 10.18 inches
of rain has fallen in the last 4 days at Lava Point in Zion National
Park...in the Cedar Breaks National Monument in South Utah, 32 inches of
snow at the Midway Valley...Alta, in the Wasatch Mountains east of Salt
Lake, reports 44 inches of new snow...places to cool off this morning
include Arctic Village, Alaska with 10 and Berlin, New Hampshire and
Fryeburg, Maine both with 22...looking way back before any of us were born,
fine weather greeted Columbus as he made landfall in the New World on this
date in 1492...that was 512 years ago...on October 21, 1984, Austin was
belted with a huge hailstorm with stones the size of hen eggs causing $14
million in damage.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: We saw another rabbit while cruising around the
walking track. It was almost nightfall and we didn't see the little fellow
until we were within 15 feet...boy, did he take off...I sure am glad I saw
him in time, because I accelerated the same time Miss Molly did and didn't
get my head nearly jerked off...lots of playtime with little Miss Molly. I'm
still trying to make up to her. Had to be away again and she always gives us
the saddest look when she knows we're leaving. She tries to put a guilt trip
on us, but as soon as she hears the garage door open when we come home, all
is forgiven. She gets a treat every time we return and that erases any bad
Despite occasional ups and downs, life goes on and we treasure every moment.
