...Clouds Hang Tough...
Don't look for much sunshine around here through mid-week as
residual moisture from former tropical storm Matthew hangs around. A few
scattered showers will remain possible today in the moist air with
temperatures reaching the mid to upper 70s in most spots.
GETTING CHILLY: A cooling trend begins tomorrow, and by Thursday the
coldest air so far this season will arrive. Very cold air aloft is expected
over the northern half of Alabama on Thursday, and we would not be surprised
to see some small hail from the showers that form. Temperatures on Thursday
will be in the 50s much of the day with a very chilly northwest wind.
By Friday morning, we expect temperatures in the 40 to 45 degree
range over the northern half of the state. At this moment, it looks like
there will be enough wind and cloud cover to prevent the mercury from
reaching the 30s in most spots. At this point we expect Friday to be
rain-free.
WEEKEND PEEK: A secondary cold front is expected to move through on
Saturday, but for now the air looks fairly dry and we will not mention any
showers. Temperatures will remain below normal over the weekend, but it
looks like the coldest air behind the secondary front will push more to the
east, passing north of Alabama.
By Monday of next week, yet another front approaches which could
trigger a few showers.
IVAN SPECIAL: Don't forget ABC 33/40's one hour primetime special
Saturday night at 9:00 p.m. called "Face to Face With Hurricane Ivan". I
will be live in Gulf Shores, and we will show you far the recovery effort
has come, and look back at the storm's arrival through our crew that covered
Ivan on the coast. We will also have more details on our Ivan DVD to be
released next week.
