...Nothing To Watch In Tropics...

GOOD MORNING! What? No tropical systems threatening our corner of the
globe? What is the world coming to? There is Lisa, out in the Atlantic.
I told you two weeks ago that she would become a hurricane. She finally
did at 5 p.m. yesterday. By 10 p.m., she had already weakened back to a
tropical storm. On the late afternoon tropical weather outlook, the
National hurricane Center indicated the hurricane was 9080 miles west of the
Azores. That would be over Siberia or somewhere. I think they meant 980
miles. You can't blame those heroes at the NHC for being a little tired.

OUR FORECAST: There is a cold front out there to the northwest this
morning. It was responsible for some strong storms across North Texas last
evening. Moisture and instability will be present across the area today,
allowing widely scattered thunderstorms to form. There will be a fairly
significant amount of wind shear present, so some of the storms could be a
little on the strong side. The front should pass through the area during
the afternoon, although a few showers could remain through the evening
hours. Sunday should feature sun and some clouds with the front stalling
over southern sections. Showers should be limited to that area. Another
front will arrive Monday night, but it will be dry. Most of the rest of the
week should be dry and pleasant as a broad area of high pressure covers the
southeastern United States, but the GFS hints at a tropical disturbance
moving northeast over the Gulf that could affect our weather by the weekend.

FOOTBALL FORECAST: There will be a chance of a shower in Knoxville as
Auburn takes on Tennessee. Temperatures during the game will drop through
the 60s. UAB travels to Cincinnati. It will be chilly during the game
there, with readings falling into the 40s. It should be dry. The Crimson
Tide welcomes the South Carolina Gamecocks late this afternoon. There will
be a chance of a shower early. Temperatures will be around 80 at kickoff,
falling into the lower 70s by the end of the game.
