A FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH 4 PM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON FOR
NORTHEAST ALABAMA AND PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.
THE WATCH INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
IN ALABAMA
MARSHALL...JACKSON AND DE KALB
IN TENNESSEE
FRANKLIN
RAIN BANDS FROM TROPICAL DEPRESSION FRANCES HAVE BEGUN TO WRAP INTO
NORTHEAST ALABAMA AND FRANKLIN COUNTY TENNESSEE. THESE BANDS WILL
CONTINUE TO BRING MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL TO THE WATCH AREA
THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE COMMON WITHIN THE WATCH
AREA. EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS AND HEAVY SHOWERS WILL ALLOW FOR
ISOLATED AMOUNTS UP TO 5 INCHES...ESPECIALLY CLOSE TO THE ALABAMA
GEORGIA BORDER.
WHILE NORTHEAST ALABAMA AND FRANKLIN COUNTY TENNESSEE HAVE
EXPERIENCED A RAINFALL DEFICIT IN RECENT MONTHS...PERSISTENT MODERATE
TO HEAVY RAINFALL OVER 24 TO 36 HOURS WILL CAUSE SWELLING OF AREA
CREEKS AND STREAMS. IN ADDITION...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL MAY INTERACT
WITH STEEP TERRAIN TO PRODUCE FLASH FLOODING.
A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLOODING IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT IMMINENT IN THE
WATCH AREA. PEOPLE IN THE WATCH AREA ARE ADVISED TO CHECK
PREPAREDNESS REQUIREMENTS...KEEP INFORMED...AND BE READY FOR QUICK
ACTION IF FLOODING THREATENS.
