BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
FLOOD WATCH
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BIRMINGHAM AL
518 AM CDT TUE SEP 7 2004

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR THE
AREAS OF RUSSELL...MACON...LEE...COOSA...TALLAPOOSA...CHAMBERS...
CLAY...RANDOLPH...TALLADEGA...CLEBURNE...CALHOUN...ETOWAH AND
CHEROKEE. THE WATCH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 700 PM CDT TUESDAY EVENING.

A LARGE SHIELD OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS
OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION FRANCES WILL CONTINUE ACROSS MUCH OF EASTERN
ALABAMA THROUGH THE DAY TODAY. A FEW LOCATIONS THAT REMAIN UNDER
PERSISTANT RAIN BANDS COULD RECEIVE THREE OR MORE INCHES OF RAIN
THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. THIS COULD CAUSE FLOODING TO POOR DRAINAGE
AREAS...AND STREAMS AND RIVERS SUSECPTIBLE TO FLASH FLOODING.

THERE STILL REMAINS SOME UNCERTAINTY WITH EVOLUTION OF THIS HEAVY
RAIN SHIELD...SO EXACT RAIN TOTALS AND LOCATIONS CANNOT BE
PINPOINTED.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR RAPIDLY
RISING WATERS AND FLOODING...IN AND NEAR THE WATCH AREA. IF YOU ARE
IN THE WATCH AREA...CHECK PREPAREDNESS REQUIREMENTS...KEEP INFORMED
...AND BE READY FOR QUICK ACTION IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED...OR
IF A WARNING IS ISSUED. STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO AND OTHER
LOCAL MEDIA FOR FURTHER DETAILS OR UPDATES.
