...Jeanne Should Not Affect Us...

GOOD MORNING! But she may impact the hurricane-weary areas of the Florida
Peninsula. She is predicted to turn northward along the Florida coast,
potentially impacting the entire coast from Palm Beach to Charleston, South
Carolina. Jeanne is expected to intensify further and will likely be a
major hurricane with top winds of 115 mph or higher when she makes landfall.
The future course of Jeanne is uncertain and just a small change in
direction could result in different timing and a more direct impact further
northward along the coast. Preparations are well underway from South
Florida to South Carolina.

The good news for us here in Alabama is that the hurricane is not expected
to move toward the Gulf, although that can not be totally ruled out. If
she holds to her predicted course, the only effect we will experience should
be some breezy conditions from the tight pressure gradient between us and
the storm and possibly some high cirrus clouds.

FUN SATURDAY: It is a special weekend out at the Shelby County Airport. The
Birmingham Aero Club will be hosting its annual Wings and Wheels Air Show.
In conjunction with the event, the National Weather Service office will be
holding an open house from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. today and Sunday. Take I-65
to exit 234.

FOOTBALL FORECAST: Alabama, Auburn and UAB will experience fine weather at
their respective venues today. If you're looking for the Florida-Kentucky
game, it has been moved up to an 11:30 a.m. kickoff because of Jeanne. The
Gators' home opener already fell victim to Hurricane Frances.

OUR WEATHER: Just think partly cloudy. That will be the predominant theme
of the next seven days. At times it might be partly sunny, especially with
clouds from Jeanne. Pleasant temperatures will continue, with warm days in
the 80s and comfortable overnights in the 60s. Jeanne will spread
slightly cooler (2-4 degree) air our way later in the week, so those lows
will dip to around 60 by then.
