THIS STATEMENT RECOMMENDS SPECIFIC ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY RESIDENTS
OF ESCAMBIA...SANTA ROSA AND OKALOOSA COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA.

...WATCHES/WARNINGS...
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTHWEST FLORIDA
PANHANDLE FROM THE ALABAMA/FLORIDA BORDER EASTWARD TO THE MOUTH OF
THE SUWANNEE RIVER. NORTHWEST FLORIDA COASTAL COUNTIES IN THE WARNING
AREA ARE...ESCAMBIA...SANTA ROSA AND OKALOOSA COUNTIES.

THE CENTER OF BONNIE IS CURRENTLY LOCATED ABOUT 175 MILES WEST
SOUTHWEST OF APALACHICOLA...OR NEAR LATITUDE 28.4 NORTH...LONGITUDE
87.5 WEST. BONNIE IS MOVING NORTHEAST NEAR 16 MPH. THIS GENERAL
MOTION...WITH A GRADUAL INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED...IS EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
RESIDENTS OF THE NORTHWEST FLORIDA COASTAL AREAS ARE URGED TO STAY
TUNED TO LOCAL RADIO AND TELEVISION FOR ANY POSSIBLE EVACUATION
NOTICES FROM LOCAL AUTHORITIES.

...STORM SURGE FLOOD AND STORM TIDE IMPACTS...
TIDE LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY RISE TO NEAR 2 FEET LATER
THIS MORNING...WITH TIDES NEAR 3 FEET POSSIBLE ALONG THE COAST OF
OKALOOSA COUNTY. HIGH TIDES ALONG THE NORTHWEST FLORIDA COAST WILL
OCCUR BETWEEN 700 AND 1000 AM THIS MORNING...WHICH IS JUST PRIOR TO
THE TIME BONNIE IS EXPECTED TO MAKE LANDFALL SOMEWHERE NEAR PANAMA
CITY BEACH FLORIDA AROUND NOON TODAY.

...WIND IMPACTS...
BONNIE'S STRONGEST WINDS ARE CURRENTLY NEAR 50 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS.
LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS AND
FOR THIS REASON...THE HURRICANE WATCHES AND WARNINGS HAVE BEEN
DISCONTINUED. OKALOOSA COUNTY WILL HAVE THE GREATER RISK OF
EXPERIENCING STRONG WINDS OF 35 TO 40 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS SOMETIME
BETWEEN 700 AND 1000 AM THIS MORNING. WINDS OVER ESCAMBIA AND SANTA
ROSA COUNTIES SHOULD BE SOMEWHAT LESS...POSSIBLY AS STRONG AS 25 TO
35 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH TO LESS
THAN 20 MPH LATER THIS AFTERNOON.

...RIP CURRENTS AND RAINFALL AMOUNTS...
THE THREAT OF DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS DUE TO HIGH SURF WILL CONTINUE
THROUGH LATE MORNING. A MODERATE ONSHORE WIND FLOW AND HIGH SEAS WILL
CONTINUE TO INCREASE THIS MORNING AS BONNIE PASSES JUST SOUTH OF
DESTIN. THE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS WILL DIMINISH DURING THE AFTERNOON
AS BONNIE MOVES INLAND AND A MODERATE OFFSHORE WIND FLOW BECOMES
ESTABLISHED. PEOPLE ARE DISCOURAGED FROM SWIMMING OR RECREATIONAL
BOATING UNTIL THE EFFECTS OF BONNIE MOVE OUT OF THE AREA.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE FLORIDA
PANHANDLE THROUGH LATE MORNING. THIS OVER AN ALREADY WELL SATURATED
GROUND HAS RESULTED IN A FLOOD WATCH BEING POSTED FOR THE NORTHWEST
FLORIDA PANHANDLE THROUGH 11 AM THIS MORNING. PERSONS LIVING IN LOW
LYING...FLOOD PRONE AREAS OR NEAR CREEKS OR STREAMS SHOULD BE ON THE
ALERT FOR FLASH FLOODING AS BONNIE APPROACHES.
