THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TALLAHASSEE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH
EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT FRIDAY MORNING (1100 PM CDT THURSDAY
EVENING) FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES.

IN SOUTHEAST ALABAMA...
COFFEE...DALE...GENEVA...HENRY AND HOUSTON.

IN SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL GEORGIA...

IN NORTH FLORIDA...
BAY...CALHOUN...DIXIE...FRANKLIN...GADSDEN...GULF...HOLMES...

TAYLOR...WAKULLA...WALTON AND WASHINGTON.

A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHEAST ALABAMA...SOUTHWEST AND
SOUTH CENTRAL GEORGIA...AND THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE AND BIG BEND
THROUGH MIDNIGHT TONIGHT DUE TO EXPECTED HEAVY RAINFALL FROM TROPICAL
STORM BONNIE. ALTHOUGH BONNIE IS EXPECTED TO ACCELERATE AND MOVE
QUICKLY THROUGH THE REGION...IT WILL STILL HAVE TIME TO PRODUCE
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS...WHICH WILL BE AIDED BY CONVECTION FROM THE
APPROACHING COLD FRONT. ANY ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL WILL EXACERBATE
THE FLOODING POTENTIAL...AS SATURATED GROUND CONDITIONS EXIST IN MANY
AREAS DUE TO RECENT HEAVY RAINS. AS BONNIE MOVES FROM THE PANHANDLE
INTO SOUTH-CENTRAL GEORGIA...WIDESPREAD 4 TO 6 INCH RAINFALL TOTALS
WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED. THIS
COULD CAUSE WIDESPREAD FLOODING IN LOW LYING AND POOR DRAINAGE
AREAS.

BE READY TO ACT IMMEDIATELY IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR A FLOOD
WARNING IS ISSUED. DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF THREATENING WATER LEVELS OCCUR.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS...CREEKS...AND
OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS IS POSSIBLE WITHIN THE WATCH AREA. PEOPLE IN THE
WATCH AREA SHOULD KEEP AN EYE ON THE WEATHER AND BE PREPARED FOR
IMMEDIATE ACTION SHOULD HEAVY RAINS AND FLOODING OCCUR OR A FLOOD
WARNING BE ISSUED.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THE THREAT FOR FLOODING EXISTS WITHIN THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THE AFFECTED AREA SHOULD MONITOR NOAA WEATHER RADIO
AND LOCAL TELEVISION OR RADIO. BE READY TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF
FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR A WARNING IS ISSUED.
