A CHANGE TO WET WEATHER: A week ago all of us weather humans had our
eyes focused toward the south because of Hurricane Charley. We all know that
Charley became a major disaster for Florida.

Today we look westward where there are increasing showers and
thunderstorms over East Texas. That is part of Alabama's next weather maker.
It looks like we're going to get a good wetting down Friday and Saturday.
While some showers may be underway tomorrow morning, especially over West
Alabama, the more numerous showers and thunderstorms and the heaviest rain
will be Friday afternoon, Friday night and Saturday. Across Central Alabama,
the storm total rainfall may be between 1 and 2 inches in a number of
communities.

Showers should gradually diminish on Sunday and probably end later
in the day. Another "cold" front is going to be involved late in the
weekend. We think now the front will simply sit down and rest somewhere in
Central Alabama. For that reason, we may not have all sunshine on Monday as
earlier expected, but we believe any showers on Monday should be limited to
the south.

TROPICAL WEATHER: Fortunately Floridians don't have to worry about
anything in the Gulf of Mexico now. It is extremely quiet. In fact the
entire Atlantic Basin is quiet. The disturbance way out in the Eastern
Atlantic has actually weakened and Danielle is winding down also with no
threat to land.

AIR QUALITY: A Code Orange ozone alert was in effect for the
Birmingham Metropolitan Area again today. When the new forecast comes out
later this afternoon, it will no doubt point to an improvement for tomorrow
and Saturday.

SPOT CHECK: FT. WORTH-DALLAS: Flash flooding has bee occurring in
Fort Worth this morning where 3.23 inches of rain has already fallen at the
National Weather Service since 4 o'clock this morning. As much as 4 inches
or more has fallen over parts of Tarrant and Denton Counties...a few other
notes. Colorado Springs, Abilene, Denver and Pueblo, Colorado also received
well over 1 inch of rain over the last 24 hours...the national cool spot
this morning was Hettinger, North Dakota, 32.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: One day I'm going to set aside the
entire day just to play with little Miss Molly. I have never seen a little
animal enjoy the attention so much. I am now calling her my little soccer
puppy. I kick the ball across the living area. She outruns the ball, jumps
over it, skids on the hardwood foyer and acts like a goalie trying to catch
the ball. Then she comes rushing back toward me, pushing the ball ahead of
her with both paws and dropping it on my foot to repeat everything over and
over again. A very quiet walk this morning. As I have mentioned, I try to
let her be the boss on the first walk of the day. She enjoys it as much as a
kid would enjoy a vacation to the beach. The new solid black cat in the
community and Molly did a three-minute stare-down that neither was brave
enough to close the 30-foot space between them. Life goes speeding along.
