THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TALLAHASSEE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH
FOR FLASH FLOODING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 830 PM EDT TUESDAY EVENING(730 PM
CDT TUESDAY EVENING) FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES.
IN SOUTHEAST ALABAMA...
COFFEE...DALE...GENEVA...HENRY AND HOUSTON.
IN SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL GEORGIA...
DECATUR...EARLY...MILLER AND SEMINOLE.
IN NORTH FLORIDA...
HOLMES...JACKSON AND INLAND WALTON.
.SYNOPSIS...SOILS IN THE AFFECTED AREA HAVE RECEIVED 2 TO 3 INCHES OF
RAINFALL DURING THE PAST 28 HOURS. THOUGH CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN DRY
RECENTLY...THIS RAINFALL HAS SATURATED SURFACE SOILS. WATER OVER
ROADWAYS HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED IN SOUTHERN HOUSTON COUNTY THIS
MORNING. ANOTHER SYSTEM WITH MORE VERY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL REACH
THESE AREAS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. RAINRATES OF 3 TO IN EXCESS
OF 4 INCHES PER HOUR HAS BEEN OCCURRING WITH THESE LINES OF
THUNDERSTORMS. THOUGH RAINFALL TOTALS HAVE RANGED FROM 1 TO 2 INCHES
THIS MORNING...THE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL PUSH ACCUMULATIONS ABOVE
FLASH FLOOD GUIDANCE.
THIS FLASH FLOOD THREAT EXISTS ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS IN THE
INDICATED AREAS. URBAN FLOODING IS ALSO POSSIBLE IN POOR DRAINAGE
AREAS. PEOPLE ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS SHOULD MONITOR WATER LEVELS
FREQUENTLY IF HEAVY RAIN OCCURS. BE READY TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY IF
FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR A WARNING IS ISSUED. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
DRIVE IN AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS ROADWAYS.
PERSONS IN THE AFFECTED AREA SHOULD MONITOR NOAA WEATHER RADIO AND
LOCAL TELEVISION OR RADIO.
