...Shower/Storm Chances To Drop...

GOOD MORNING! We keep promising that you will see a reduction in the number
of showers and thunderstorms affecting Alabama. Believe it or not, it will
start to happen today as drier air aloft moves into the area. More typical
summertime conditions will begin to prevail, especially by tomorrow and into
the weekend.

TODAY: Alabama continues in the midst of a warm, moist tropical airmass
near the surface on this Wednesday morning. The large upper level low that
has been located over eastern Texas has weakened into an open trough. Dry
air moving into the area will continue to erode the cloudiness today, with
breaks in the clouds likely during the morning. Those breaks will allow
temperatures to warm into the middle 80s across the area. Showers and
thunderstorms will develop across the area , with about 40 percent of the
area seeing precipitation today.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: High pressure will begin to ridge into Alabama later
today, and that ridging will become more dominant tomorrow. This means a
return to the typical partly cloudy with scattered afternoon and evening
thunderstorms for Thursday and Friday.

WEEKEND: Looks good with partly cloudy skies and scattered afternoon and
evening thunderstorms. Highs: upper 80s, lows: lower 70s.

IN THE TROPICS: A decent tropical wave is approaching the Windward Islands
this morning. This system has been rather impressive as I continues on a
westward course. Upper level winds are unfavorable for development, but the
system will be monitored as it continues into the Caribbean.

HURRICANE TALK: ABC3340 weather intern Tiffay Kirk says, "Hurricanes are
VERY complicated. I have great respect for those working in the offices of
the National
Hurricane Center especially when there are numerous storms in the water. It
takes a tremendous amount of effort to keep watch over any sort of tropical
activity." We agree wholeheartedly Tiffany!
