...Good Rain Chances Today...

GOOD MORNING! Greetings from Dallas where it will be sunny and hot today.
I wish I were back home with you guys enjoying the tropical moisture...

TODAY: Alabama continues in the midst of a warm and moist tropical airmass
on this Tuesday morning. Our tropical depression wannabe is defunct this
morning, drifting over the northern Gulf Coast. With all of the moisture
around, showers and thunderstorms will be a good bet today. Look for highs
to edge into the lower 80s, unless you are in one of those areas where it
rains most of the day. There could be a few scattered showers and maybe
even a storm around overnight, so we will leave rain chances in the forecast
overnight. Lows will be in the lower 70s.

WEDNESDAY: Rain chances will be cut about in half on Wednesday, as compared
to today. This will signal the return of a more typical summer like
weather pattern. Storms will be more scattered in nature as high pressure
begins to build into Alabama.

REST OF WEEK: That same summer like pattern will continue through the
remainder of the week. Expect scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms
each day. Temperatures will be near normal for this time of year.

ON THIS DATE IN 1991: Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines blew its top
beginning a rampage that would hurl debris as high as 100,000 feet into the
sky. The series of eruptions would be the most violent volcanic eruption of
the twentieth century. Material from the eruption would spread around the
globe, leading to climate changes worldwide as the sun's energy was blocked
out and global temperatures cooled by as much as 1 degree F. Do you
remember the sunsets that the ash produced?

THOSE AMAZING INTERNS: One of the excellent met interns here at 3340 has
penned today and tomorrow's editions of Weather Talk. Check out Tiffany
Kirk's installments on the models used by the National Hurricane Center.
