GOOD MORNING! By the time most of you read this, I will be well on my way
to beautiful Corolla, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I have always
wanted to visit the Outer Banks, which have a lot of appeal to me because of
the ocean, their history, and their hurricane heritage. I am sure I will
have some stories by next weekend.

TODAY: Alabama continues under the influence of a strong Bermuda High,
which is pumping plenty of warm, moist air into the state. An upper level
disturbance is drifting into Northwest sections of the state this morning.
This system will fire scattered showers and a few thunderstorms this morning
across the northern half of the state. Other showers and storms may reform
this afternoon across the area. There could be a couple of light showers
overnight, but they will be isolated and light in nature.

TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY: Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms during
the afternoons and evening hours will highlight the weather Tuesday through
Thursday as a rather summer like pattern sets in with the Bermuda High
holding sway.

FRIDAY AND BEYOND: Can't tell much difference in the Friday through weekend
forecast. We will certainly deal with diurnal showers and thunderstorms. A
few disturbances will be mixed in at different times to enhance those
precipitation chances, but they will be hard to pinpoint outside of 24 hours
in advance.

BIG PLANETY NEWS: It hasn't happened since 1882. The planet Venus will
pass directly in front of the sun early on Tuesday. For six hours starting
around midnight CDT, the planet will appear as a tiny black dot transiting
across the Sun. This means that it will finish its journey about 6:30 a.m.
DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN! Even at the time it will be visible here, which
will be just after sunrise, staring at the Sun for even a second will damage
your eyes. It can even cause PERMANENT BLINDNESS! Check out a webcast of
