...Lots of Sun; Less Humid...
The long awaited surge of drier air has finally arrived following a round of
active storms last night. We expect a decent amount of sunshine today
through scattered clouds, along with a fresh northwest breeze and lower
humidity values. Any showers today will be limited to the southern third of
the state.
Tonight will be very pleasant with temperatures dropping to near 60 degrees
by daybreak tomorrow. Some spots could reach the upper 50s.
THE WEEKEND: Dry and warm weather tomorrow with highs in the mid 80s. Enough
moisture could return Sunday for a few widely scattered afternoon showers,
but most communities around here should remain dry.
Next week will feature typical June weather with partly sunny days and the
daily risk of scattered afternoon storms.
THE BEACH: The weather looks excellent along the Gulf coast this weekend
with mostly sunny days and fair nights. A few widely scattered showers could
show up by Monday. Daytime temperatures will peak in the mid to upper 80s,
and the sea water temperature is 81 degrees at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.
OZONE: A code yellow forecast today, meaning air quality is expected to be
moderate in Jefferson and Shelby counties.
YESTERDAY'S STORMS: Trees and power lines were knocked down in Tuscaloosa
county around 6:30 p.m. from a passing severe storm. That same storm dropped
0.95" at our weathernet site in the eastern part of Tuscaloosa. Other rain
totals yesterday included 1.45" at Alexander City, .85" at Hamilton, .82" at
Cordova, .71" at Demopolis, and .41" at Legion Field in Birmingham.
