...Showers Few and Far Between...

Another disturbance is approaching Alabama from the west this
morning, and much like the system yesterday it looks like the majority of
the rain will fall over the southern half of the state. A few sprinkles or
widely scattered showers are possible as far north as I-20, but the heaviest
rain is likely mainly south of Montgomery. In fact, some flash flooding
problems are possible for south Alabama, where the ground is totally soaked.
Parts of Mobile and Baldwin counties received over three inches of rain
yesterday based on NEXRAD estimates.

Drier air will push into the northern half of the state tonight, and
at this point it looks like we will enjoy some pretty decent weather for
early June tomorrow and Friday, with mostly sunny days, fair pleasant
nights, and lower humidity values. Any rain will be over the far southern
part of Alabama.

THE WEEKEND: We will mention just a small risk of a shower on
Saturday, but showers and storms should become a little more active by
Sunday afternoon as deeper
moisture returns. A decaying cold front approaching from the north could
enhance the chance of showers early next week as well.

OZONE: A code yellow for the Birmingham metro area today, meaning
air quality is expected to be in the moderate range.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin is rather quiet on this second day of
the tropical season; a weak wave is between the coast of Africa and the
Lesser Antilles, and storms near the system have been decreasing.

FLORIDA STORMS: Baseball sized hail fell yesterday at Callahan, FL,
and winds gusted to 44 mph at Jacksonville from a passing storm.
