GIRLS VOLLEYBALL CAMP
4th Grade through 8th Grade

Here's a great way for young girls to learn the basics of volleyball:
passing, setting, hitting and serving. All girls will receive excellent
instruction and participate in games each day of the camp.

The camp is run by Spain Park Varsity Coach Laura Burke who played four
years of volleyball at UAB. All campers get a special T-shirt and
certificate of participation.

Just $80 until May 26; $90 after that date. Contact Coach Burke at 439-1400
ext. 7721 or by e-mail at lburke@hoover.k12.al.us

...The Warming Trend Continues...

Dry weather will continue across Alabama today with temperatures rising into
the mid 80s in most places this afternoon. Low level moisture will increase
a bit, but any scattered showers this afternoon should stay down over the
southern third of the state.

A trough in the upper atmosphere will move from near Minneapolis southward
to the Louisiana coast over the latter half of the week, and will help to
bring a chance of rain back to the state. We might see a shower late
tomorrow afternoon, but at this point it looks like the best chance of
showers and storms will come tomorrow night and into Friday. The rain won't
be continuous, but a passing shower or storm will be possible at almost any
time. Rainfall amounts of one-half to one inch are likely. Severe storms are
not expected to be a problem with rather light wind fields both at the
surface and aloft.

THE WEEKEND: Showers should begin to thin out on Saturday as the upper air
system weakens and drifts into the Gulf of Mexico. And, by Sunday we should
be rain-free. High temperatures over the weekend should be at or just over
the 80 degree mark.

NEXT WEEK: The latest model guidance show a cold front passing through the
state early Tuesday, which should bring a quick round of showers and storms
Monday night, followed by a change to cooler and drier weather for the
middle part of next week.

TROPICAL ACTION: The first tropical depression of the Pacific hurricane
season has formed west of El Salvador. The system has the potential to
become a hurricane before landfall in central America. It also could emerge
as a tropical system in the Caribbean this weekend.
