...Another Flooding Event This Week?...
GOOD MORNING! Most areas added another one half to three quarters
of an inch to their November rainfall totals yesterday as a quick moving
cold front pushed an area of showers and storms across the region. The
rainfall total at Birmingham now stands at 10.47 inches for the month,
easily good enough for third place. Second place looks unattainable now, as
the main rain will hold off until Monday night. Still, some heavy rainfall
amounts are possible between Monday night and Wednesday, with some areas
likely picking up another three to five inches of rain. With saturated
soils, this could obviously cause flooding problems.
A LITTLE FOG THIS A.M.: Clearing skies and relatively moist low
level conditions have led to the development of patchy fog across the area
this morning. With lots of folks getting an early jump on their return
trips this holiday weekend Sunday, everyone should use extra caution when
encountering areas of fog.
NICE SUNDAY/MONDAY: With lots of sunshine and with a Pacific
airmass behind last night's front, today promises to be a nice day.
Temperatures will top out in the upper 50s to near 60 in most areas. The
nice conditions will continue through most of Monday, before clouds begin
moving back into the area. Readings tomorrow will be some 4-5 degrees
warmer than today.
NEXT STORM SYSTEM: By Monday morning, low pressure will be
developing over Texas. By Monday night, a warm front will be spreading
north and eastward from the Gulf of Mexico. This will spread rain and
storms back over the area by Tuesday morning. Periods of rain and
thunderstorms will continue through the day on Tuesday and through the
overnight hours. At some point, a line of thunderstorms will push across
the state ahead of a cold front. There is a chance that these storms could
be on the strong to severe side. Nevertheless, much of the state will
experience an extended period of rainfall. Amounts could be heavy, thus the
flooding threat. Conditions will improve on Thursday with the next rain
chance coming Saturday.
