...Storm Alert Xtreme Today...
GOOD MORNING! Excitement is in the air in the Birmingham weather community
as Storm Alert Xtreme kicks off at the BJCC this morning at 9:30. It will
be a day of entertaining and educational weather information for anyone who
has an interest in severe weather. Come join us! It's free!
WEEKEND FORECAST: Our summery weather will gradually come to an end by next
week as a significant storm system moves through the state. Today will
feature a chance of a shower or storm during the afternoon hours, with a
chance continuing overnight as a front approaches from the north and
weakens. The front should wash out on Sunday and get ready to head back
north as a warm front. So, tomorrow should feature a bit more cloudiness
and still a chance of showers and storms.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: Just a slight chance of a shower or storm for today's
Magic City Classic. Temperatures will be in the 80s. Auburn entertains Ole
Miss on the Plains Saturday evening. Temperatures will be falling through
the 70s with only a slight chance of rain..
REMINDER TO FALL BACK: Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour before
retiring Saturday night. Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. local time
Sunday morning.
TRICK OR TREAT FORECAST: We will have to call for a chance of showers and
storms through the overnight hours on Sunday. Rainfall does not look like
it will be widespread or heavy, through.
NEXT WEEK: We will have a period of showers and storms at some point on
Monday as southerly flow increases and the warm front heads north. Low
pressure will form to the west of Alabama and push slowly our way . The low
should be over Mississippi Tuesday, giving us an even better chance of
showers and storms as a cold front heads our way. Storms could be strong to
severe Tuesday night. You can expect cooler conditions on Wednesday with a
little lingering light rain. Temperatures will return to near normal levels
after Tuesday.
