...Strong Storms Possible Tuesday...

GOOD MORNING! We welcome the month of November on this Monday morning.
November is the month that we transition from the dry and mild weather of
October to our short winter season. Some November climate stats:

...Average Rainfall: 4.63
...Most Rainfall: 15.25 in 1948
...Least Rainfall: 0.01 in 1924
...Highest Temperature: 85...3 different times
...Lowest Temperature: 5 on Nov. 25 1950
...Prevailing wind direction: northerly. Thunderstorms occur on average on
two days. It is cloudy 13 days, partly cloudy on 7 days and clear on 10
days, on average.

BIG RECORD TO FALL TODAY? The all time high record November high temperature
is 85 degrees, set on three different occasions. We are predicting a high
of 84 degrees today. So we will be very, very close. A little extra sun and
it could happen. We will start the day with more clouds than sun, but more
sun will appear as the days goes on. Any showers that do form today will be
isolated in coverage.

THE WEEK AHEAD: Our warm conditions are about to come to an end as a strong
cold front moves toward the state. That front will push a line of showers
and thunderstorms ahead of it. Just when that line of storms will make it
into Alabama is uncertain at this time. The best thinking now is that the
rain and storms will arrive during the day on Tuesday, but it could be as
late as Tuesday evening. If the system arrives earlier in the day, there
will be less of a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms. If the storms
arrive late in the day, they may have a better chance of becoming severe.
We will be able to refine this forecast as we go through the day today.

Some rain may hang around through much of Wednesday as low pressure moves
out to the northeast. Thursday should feature clearing skies and cooler
conditions. A reinforcing shot of cooler air will arrive on Friday, giving
us the coolest air we have seen since last Spring. Some areas of North
Alabama may well see frost over the weekend.
