...Another Hot One...

GOOD MORNING! Upper level high pressure is centered over northern
Mississippi and northwestern Alabama this morning. The high will weaken and
move back to the west over the next twenty four hours. The upper air
pattern will transition over the South during that time, with a trough
setting up shop over the Deep South. A weak frontal boundary is located
over Central Alabama this morning, slowly pushing to the south. A broad
area of low pressure at the surface will develop over Alabama, also. This
complex setup should spell an increase in rain chances over the next couple
of days.

FOR YOUR SUNDAY: We are starting off with a little patchy fog this morning,
especially in areas that saw rain on Saturday, in valleys and near bodies of
water. That fog will burn off quickly in the face of a relentless summer
sun. Weakening high pressure aloft should allow for more development in the
way of diurnal showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Coverage levels
will be in 40-50% range. Highs will range into the lower 90s in most
locations, with readings about 3-5 degrees hotter over South Central
sections, like near Montgomery, where it was 100F yesterday.

THE WEEK AHEAD: Monday looks to feature a good chance of showers and
thunderstorms as the surface low, a stronger front to the north and an
approaching upper trough all conspire. But, hey, we'll take it, as we are
officially five inches behind for the year in the rainfall department.
Behind the front, thunderstorms will become isolated as we head into
midweek. The Bermuda High will flex its muscles by Friday, bringing a
return of tropical moisture and the typical summertime pattern of afternoon
and evening showers and storms. We may see readings in the upper 80s Monday
and Tuesday before highs return to almost exactly seasonal norms during the
Wednesday-Friday time frame.
