===================================================================

Looks like this should be another active thunderstorm day for Alabama, with
deep tropical moisture in place, a front approaching from the north, and a
series of waves aloft moving through the deep south. Due to the nature of
the airmass in place, a few heavy downpours are certainly possible today,
and some spots could see an additional one to two inches of rain.

The models continue to try to bring some drier air into north Alabama
tomorrow, but we are not really buying into that solution now and we will
maintain the chance of scattered storms tomorrow afternoon, with the more
numerous ones south of I-20.

Moisture surges northward again on Friday, and more than likely we will be
dealing with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms through the
weekend. No total wash out, and there will be some intervals of sunshine,
but just keep in mind you will have to dodge at least a few showers or
storms on Saturday and Sunday.

TUESDAY’S SOAKERS: Rain totals from around Alabama yesterday included 1.62"
at Nauvoo, 1.25" at Calera, 1.22" at Wilsonville, 1.07" at Childersburg,
1.04" at Demopolis, .93" at Center Point, .89" at Cottondale, .81" at
Helena, .66" at Riverchase, and .52" at Hamilton. The ABC 33/40 weathernet
measured peak wind gusts to 58 mph at the Talladega Superspeedway, and 46
mph in downtown Anniston on Noble Street.

OZONE: A code yellow forecast for Jefferson and Shelby counties today,
meaning air quality is expected to be moderate.

AROUND THE FRUITED PLAIN: Hot spot in the nation yesterday was Death Valley,
CA with 115. In Tennessee, Knoxville was soaked with 1.97" of rain.
